The Peachtree City Mountain Bike Working Group was initiated in 2023 with the consent of the City Recreation & Special Events Department and City Manager and consists of current City residents who may also be a member of a local cycling club, team or advocate organization.
The last MTB Master Plan was written in 2014 and only partially implemented.
The Group developed a written master plan of existing and new proposed mountain bike (MTB) trails and facilities proposed as community input to the Peachtree City Recreation Master Plan Update developed during 2024 and to facilitate future coordination and City approval for specific requested trail improvement projects. Three public greenspaces were identified as potential sites for new or additional natural surface multi-use trails. Bike-Walk Fayette advocated for these proposals to be included in the published Plan recommendations approved by the City Council for planning purposes in January 2025.
See 2025 Peachtree City Parks & Recreation Master Plan, pages 144-145
These are the specific multi-use natural surface trail projects:
1) Gin Branch Greenspace - Gin Branch Outdoor Recreation Center (1 mile)
2) Peachtree City Athletic Complex - PAC Trails (3 existing plus 1 mile addition)
3) McIntosh Trail Recreation Center- MAC Trails (1 mile)
The SouthSide Cycling Club is taking the lead to design, fund and construct these multi-use natural service trails as a donation to the City. The first two projects and the donations of labor and materials were accepted by the City Council in July 2025. Construction has begun at Gin Branch, with the trail now cleared.
